Context
I oversaw this project over a two-year period. The exhibition involved a multidisciplinary team of curators, designers, fabricators, and installation specialists. The primary challenge was to create a visually cohesive exhibition that harmonized with the Guggenheim’s iconic spiral architecture while adhering the artists unique vision.
Responsibilities
I was responsible for managing the entire project from concept to completion. This included coordinating the creation of new artworks and the integration of existing pieces, ensuring they met high artistic standards. I worked closely with Sarah Sze and the team to realize her artistic vision, overseeing material sourcing, production schedules, and quality control. To address the Guggenheim’s unique architectural challenges, I led the development of full-scale models and replicas of the exhibition space, allowing us to refine the installation layout before the actual setup.
Outcome
The exhibition was a success, effectively addressing the architectural complexities of the Guggenheim. The detailed planning and proactive problem-solving resulted in a seamless integration of the artworks within the museum’s unique space, contributing to a compelling and engaging visitor experience. This project demonstrated my ability to manage complex, high-profile exhibitions and deliver results that align with both artistic goals and institutional standards.

Behind The Scenes
“Sarah Sze: Timelapse” at the Guggenheim
Emerging as an artist in the 1990s, Sarah Sze has built a distinct visual language that blurs the boundaries between various mediums including painting, sculpture, sound, print, drawing, video, and architecture, challenging the threshold between digital and the analogue, the tactile and the imagined, and the permanent and the impermanent. For this solo exhibition, Sze created a series of site-specific installations that weave a trail of discovery through multiple spaces of the Guggenheim’s iconic Frank Lloyd Wright building.
